Chopin Residue is a multidisciplinary project led by Mariusz Szypura that reimagines the music of Fryderyk Chopin through systematic processes of deconstruction, reinterpretation, and material transformation.
The double album features original compositions and reinterpretations by Szypura and a diverse group of experimental musicians, creating a layered dialogue between classical material and contemporary sound.
It is not a tribute, but a study in transformation, residue, and creative possibility. By combining experimental composition, collaborative reinterpretation, and material visualization, the project establishes a polyphonic dialogue between classical source material, contemporary sound practice, and visual expression.

Chopin Residue by Mariusz Szypura is a multidisciplinary exhibition that reinterprets the legacy of Fryderyk Chopin through contemporary sound and visual art. Shown at Fridman Gallery, the exhibition includes visual works paired with original music inspired by Chopin’s heritage. As part of the exhibition opening, selected pieces will be performed live by the album’s artists, including Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth) and John Stanier (Helmet, Battles, Tomahawk). This will activate the space and offer a unique, site-specific interpretation of the project’s themes. This one-time concert combines recordings with the physical exhibition experience, highlighting the interaction between composition, improvisation, and spatial experience.

Chopin Residue Nonaptych – Prelude Op. 28 No. 20Art InstallationApril 2025
The installation Chopin Residue Nonaptych – Prelude Op. 28 No. 20, presented during the opening event of Top Charity Art at the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów, is a multimedia fusion of visual art, sound, and light. At its center is a large, monochrome artwork made from thread — a byproduct of manually cutting nine vinyl records. These same records, from which the threads were created, are played back during the installation — each on a separate turntable — in the historic Baroque interiors of the north gallery. Dynamic lighting, synchronized with the music, casts shifting shadows and evokes a sense of movement within the artwork’s structure. The installation is fully immersive, with sound and light precisely coordinated to create a unified sensory experience. The presentation marks the opening of the exhibition featuring artworks selected for the charity auction during the Grand Gala of the TOP CHARITY Auction 2025. Following the event, the artwork was moved to the Orangery, where it will be exhibited as a stand-alone visual piece.

Chopin Residue – Lathe-Cut Session ILive Act / PerformanceApril 2025
The process of cutting records—later transformed into threads and materials for the artworks—is performed live at Bunkier Sztuki in Kraków. The artist isolates themselves within the gallery space, working with a vinyl cutting machine to cut records in real time. The entire process is open to the audience and simultaneously recorded and documented on video.
The thread produced as waste during the lathe-cut vinyl process is created from nine vinyl records per track, resulting in a total of 81 records for the nine tracks. This thread is, in essence, the negative of the vinyl groove. If the record contains the sound, the thread embodies the unsound—or antisound—a residual trace left behind in the act of recording.
The thread will be used to create nine large-format artworks in the cycle Chopin Residue: Nonaptych.

êkhos (ἦχος)Audiovisual installationNovember 2024The êkhos (ἦχος) exhibition at Lincoln Center in New York, presented as part of the Unsound Festival NYC 2024 is the stereoscopic anaglyph audio-video installation embodies noise (understood as ekhos in ancient Greek) in a graphic performance organically reacting to the sound. Understanding of music over time became more and more synesthetic. The visual and audio experience switching in terms of senses leads to a kind of artistic confusion. The more we immerse ourselves in the project, the more we start to see the music and hear the visuals.

Modern LED monitors display accompanying videos, creating a cohesive visual experience. The space is designed for active audience engagement, allowing visitors to choose their surroundings and the multi-channel music they experience. in:human fosters discussions on artificial intelligence's impact on society and the role of technology, art, and music in contemporary culture.

Silver Rocket – Infinity FidelityDolby Atmos and Simultaneous ExperienceFebruary 2024
The latest Silver Rocket production - titled "Infinity Fidelity" - from the first sounds absorbs with dense, melodically and harmonically monumental tones, in which also contributes the innovative system in which the album was recorded and produced. Here, Mariusz Szypura's fascination with technology - as a producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist - met with the experience of Jacek Gawłowski, a Grammy winner who is one of the pioneers and leading sound directors and producers in Europe working with advanced Dolby Atmos technology. This cooperation resulted in a deeply immersive experience that listening to "Infinity Fidelity" brings. "Infinity Fidelity" consists of two discs meant to be played simultaneously, enhancing the human-machine effect. It's an experience where the present mixes with the future and the past, and the world of humans blends with the universe of robots and artificial intelligence. In the compact and vinyl versions, each disc can also be listened to separately - representing contrasting reflections.

It allows not only for the collaboration of artists from various disciplines within a shared space but also for the active participation of the audience, making them co-creators of the artistic experience. This long-term project involves art installations co-created by multiple artists and associated recording sessions.

An ongoing project focused on creating spatial music for modern buildings. This music responds to various factors, such as changing weather conditions, time of day, the number of people in communal spaces, and the types of daily activities being performed. The project integrates advanced algorithms with building systems to generate unique sound compositions in real time. The music aims not only to highlight the uniqueness of each moment but also to create an immersive experience that enhances the perception of space and enriches the aesthetic experience of the users, bringing a new level of interaction with architecture.

Sound Sculpture Synesthetic SystemForthcoming project2024 – 2027
Sound Sculpture Synesthetic System /SSSS/ is a scalable project encompassing the creation of diverse sound-generating objects for various artistic spaces – from small art galleries and large public institutions to installations in buildings or urban areas. These objects involve not only sound design but also the creation of their appearance, materials, forms, applied technologies, and specific acoustic spaces, as well as various purposes and types of interactivity with the audience. /SSSS/ is also an advanced exploration of new methods of sound perception and interaction with the environment, integrating with the artistic experience in a way that impacts the emotions and perception of the audience in an unexpected and inspiring manner.
