Mariusz Szypura is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, music producer, graphic designer, and visual artist present for almost three decades.

He began in the Polish alternative scene in the early 1990s with the band Happy Pills, an icon of independent rock scene. The band released several albums, and their US career was interrupted by the attack on the World Trade Center towers. The band was on their way to New York City when it happened.

He was also involved in the group Blimp. The album “Pressure: Pleasure” was one best experimental post-rock albums and despite many positive reviews from influential magazines like The Wire or De:Bug – still is rather a hidden treasure for avant-garde music lovers.

Mariusz Szypura’s main original music project is Silver Rocket, with which he released 5 albums, including “Unhappy Songs” and “Tesla” — the longplay inspired by the extraordinary life of the brilliant inventor Nikola Tesla, nominated for the Fryderyk Awards and awarded for Best Graphic Design. The latest album, “Infinity Fidelity,” is a profoundly immersive experience in Dolby Atmos and the first ever album recorded as Simultaneous Experience. Each of the 16 tracks is complemented by original visualizations created by Mariusz.

In the meantime, Mariusz designed and developed 4 award-winning games, awarded at events such as IMGA Global in San Francisco, White Nights in Helsinki, Casual Connect in Belgrade, and Appaward in Warsaw, and nominated for awards around the world.

As a graphic designer he was responsible for the graphic identity of the OFF Festival in Katowice from 2010 to 2015, as well as artwork and design for more than 80 albums for Polish artists.

Szypura is also known as a visual artist, with his installation, in:human, exhibited in July 2024 at the Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw. This exhibition explored the relationship between humans and technology through interactive installations and immersive experiences.

The next stage of his artistic journey is linked to his growing fascination with audiovisual installations—a field in which he is rapidly evolving. In November 2024, during the Unsound Festival at Lincoln Center in New York, Szypura presented another exhibition, êkhos, created in collaboration with the (((echo~echo))) collective. The project combined large-scale visual projections with an original sound layer, showcasing how technology can reinterpret traditional art forms.
